Short answer
At a minimum, maintaining a website costs the domain (renewed every year) and hosting (monthly or yearly). On top of that, if you need them, come email on your own domain and maintenance. A lightweight static site has low fixed costs; a WordPress site with plugins or an online store needs technical maintenance every month.
- Always fixed: domain and hosting.
- Optional: email on your domain, a maintenance plan and paid tools.
- What drives costs up the most: paid plugins and themes priced in dollars, and renewals that cost more than the first year.
What costs does a website have after it goes live?
Building the website is a one-time expense. Keeping it online is another one, and it repeats. Many quotes only talk about the first, and the surprise comes a year later, when the domain expires or the hosting price changes. This guide is about the second: what it costs to maintain it. If what you want to know is how much it costs to build one, that's in the guide to how much a website costs in Argentina.
The costs of keeping a site running fall into four groups:
| Item | What it is | Is it required? | How you pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domain | Your website's address (yourbusiness.com.ar or yourbusiness.com). | Yes | Per year |
| Hosting | The server where your website lives. | Yes | Per month or per year |
| Email on your domain | Mailboxes like sales@yourbusiness.com.ar. | No, but it builds trust | Per user, per month |
| Maintenance | Technical updates, backups, content changes. | Depends on how the website is built | Monthly plan, per change or nothing |
How much does a .com.ar domain cost per year?
A .com.ar domain is registered with NIC Argentina using your Clave Fiscal (tax ID login) and is renewed every year. The fee is set by the government: Resolution 5/2024 of the Secretaría Legal y Técnica, published in the Boletín Oficial on January 11, 2024, set the fee schedule in force since January 15, 2024. According to iProfesional (Jan 27, 2024), under that schedule registering and renewing a .com.ar costs ARS 8,500 a year.
That amount gets updated from time to time. As of October 14, 2026 we couldn't confirm a newer schedule, so before paying check the current fee at nic.ar. Two tips that matter more than the price:
- Make sure the domain is in your name, with your CUIT (tax ID), and not in the name of whoever built your website. Otherwise, switching providers gets complicated.
- Renew on time. If it expires, your website and email stop working, and after the grace period the domain can become available to someone else.
A .com domain is bought from private registrars and paid in dollars. It usually has a promotional price for the first year and a more expensive renewal: always check what the second year costs.
How much does website hosting cost?
Hosting depends on the type of site. As a market reference, GoDaddy for Argentina lists cPanel hosting from USD 5.99 a month (prices updated in November 2025). But not every site needs the same thing:
| Type of site | What hosting it needs | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|
| Static site (pages that don't change on their own, like the ones we build at MyLeads) | A static site service or simple hosting | It may fit within the free plans of services like Netlify or Cloudflare Pages, depending on traffic |
| WordPress or similar | Hosting with PHP and a database, ideally with automatic backups | The provider's monthly or yearly plan (GoDaddy reference: from USD 5.99 a month) |
| Your own online store | Hosting with more resources, a certificate and daily backups | Higher, depending on products and traffic |
| Store on a platform (Tiendanube, Shopify) | Included in the platform's subscription | The plan's monthly fee (see Tiendanube or your own store (in Spanish)) |
Market references checked on Oct 14, 2026. Prices in dollars change with the exchange rate and taxes.
What does website maintenance include?
"Maintenance" is a word used for two different things, and it's worth separating them before you sign up for a monthly plan:
| Technical maintenance | Content maintenance | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Updating the system, plugins and themes, checking security, making backups and making sure the website loads properly. | Changing prices, photos, copy and hours, adding products or news. |
| Who needs it? | Sites built on WordPress, with plugins, or self-hosted stores. | Everyone, to a greater or lesser extent. |
| What happens if it isn't done? | Errors, slow pages and security holes. | Outdated information: prices that don't match, wrong opening hours. |
| Can you do it yourself? | Better left to someone technical. | Yes, if the website is set up for editing. |
A WordPress site with lots of plugins definitely needs technical maintenance, because plugins update often and an outdated plugin is the most common way in for a hack. A static site has no plugins: technical maintenance is minimal and what's left are the content changes you want to make.
Is a monthly maintenance plan worth it?
It depends on how often your website changes and how it's built. Before signing up for a plan, ask for it in writing:
- How many content changes a month are included and how quickly they're done.
- Whether it includes technical updates and backups, and how often.
- Whether hosting and the domain are included or paid separately.
- What happens if you cancel the plan: do you keep your logins, and does the website stay online?
- Whether it includes reports on visits or inquiries.
If your website rarely changes (a company site, a landing page), paying per change is usually the better deal. If it changes every week (a menu with prices, a catalog, a store), a plan or a website you can edit yourself pays off more.
How much does it cost to maintain a website per year, by type of site?
We don't give you a fixed number because it depends on the provider, the exchange rate and what you need. What you can do is work out your own yearly cost with this sheet:
| Item | Small static site | WordPress company site | Online store |
|---|---|---|---|
| .com.ar domain | NIC annual fee | NIC annual fee | NIC annual fee |
| Hosting | Low or free plan, depending on traffic | Monthly plan × 12 | Plan with more resources × 12, or the platform subscription |
| Email on your domain | Optional: users × months | Optional: users × months | Recommended |
| Technical maintenance | Almost none | Needed every month | Needed every month |
| Paid plugins, themes or apps | No | Frequent, many in dollars | Platform apps or extensions |
| Content changes | Per change, or you do them | Per change, monthly plan, or you do them | Constant: someone has to add them |
| Sales commissions | No | No | Depends on the platform and payment method |
How much does it cost to maintain a website built by MyLeads?
At MyLeads there's no mandatory monthly plan. You pay for the design once (50% deposit and 50% at launch) and after that only the domain and hosting, which we help you set up in your name. The sites we build are static: they have no plugins to update, they load fast and hosting can be very cheap. Each plan comes with a support period after launch (7 days on Landing, 15 on Starter and 30 on Full), and the Enterprise plan includes monthly maintenance.
| Plan | Price (one-time payment) | After launch |
|---|---|---|
| Landing | ARS 100,000 - ARS 300,000 | 7 days of support. After that, domain and hosting. |
| Starter | ARS 450,000 - ARS 600,000 | 15 days of support. After that, domain and hosting. |
| Full | ARS 750,000 - ARS 950,000 | 30 days of support and training so you can edit it. After that, domain and hosting. |
| Enterprise | Custom | Includes monthly maintenance. |

Yearly checklist so you don't overpay
- Write down your domain's expiry date and set a reminder one month before.
- Check whose name the domain, the hosting and the logins are in.
- Compare the hosting renewal price with the first-year price.
- Cancel plugins, apps and email accounts you don't use.
- Check that the prices, hours and contact details on your website match the ones on Google.
- Ask for a full backup and keep it yourself.
